It wasn't that she was stupid - far from it. She would learn the simple commands "sit", "roll over", "give me your paw" very quickly. But the important things, like "stay or "come" she just had no intention of doing.
The result was a dog that was constantly "escaping" from our yard and wreaking havoc on the neighborhood. In fact, the dog officer made so many trips to our house that we were fined for having such a bad dog!
I almost gave up on her and thought she was destined to be shut in the house (where she would chew our rugs ) or locked in a secured area outside.
I thought I would never be able to take her for walks or over to a friend's house because she was just to wild and I couldn't control her. I was afraid she would run away, wreck someone's possessions or even hurt someone or herself.
I had adopted the dog as a companion that I could share my home with and bring with me wherever I went, but now I was missing out because I was embarrassed to bring her out in public!
