People are at risk for depression following either a severely stressful life event or a severe,chronic stressor. Certain kinds of chronic stressorsare more likely than others to result in depression. The kind of stress that leads to depression is one that varies in intensity . The circumstances could be bad for a few days, then improve , and then get much worse again.
