Previously on The Vampire Diaries Stefan told Elena about a dark time in his pas when he went on a killing mission after fire in the church where Katherine was supposedly dead, just after he and Damon turned. Jonas took away Bonnie's powers after she used Luka to get information from him .Damon planed a dinner party in which Alaric ended up stabbing him to death but then Damon did something he shouldn't, pulled the dagger out and Elijah came back alive. When Elijah came after Elena enraged for what happened, Elena tricked him and killed him but this time the dagger was left in and Elijah is dead for now. In the end Katherine showed up in Damon's shower, Elijah's compulsion died of along with him.
