Adelphi University to Host "Women in Government: Encouraging the Next Generation"

Adelphi University is pleased to announce the upcoming event, "Women in Government: Encouraging the Next Generation," scheduled to coincide with the national celebration of Women's History Month in March. Event attendees will hear stories from female elected officials, learn about the experiences that inspired them, and how they were able to chart a successful future for themselves, among other topics. Jointly hosted by Adelphi and the Honorable Leslie C. Gross, North Hempstead Town Clerk, this event will take place on Friday, March 11, 2011, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

The panelists, a selection of women who serve, or have served, in public office in Nassau County and across the state of New York, will talk about the challenges they have faced while holding elected office, as well as share their experiences about the hard work, dedication, and strong work ethic that compelled them to give back to their community. A Q&A session will follow the event and an opportunity to meet and network with the speakers.
