Linksys routers come with a built-in web-based setup interface. It is a webpage hosted on the Linksys router that allows you to modify settings and configure advanced features according to your needs.
Before accessing the Linksys router's web-based interface, make sure the Linksys router is already powered on and that the computer you'll use to manage the wireless router is wired to one of the router's Ethernet ports (1, 2, 3 or 4).
Now, read these steps in order to open your Linksys router's web-based setup interface:
Step 1: Open you favorite Internet browser such as Mozilla Firefox.
Step 2: In the Address bar, enter your IP address of your Linksys router, and then press Enter. The default IP address of most Linksys routers is 192.168.1.1. If your Linksys router's IP address has been modified, then type the actual router's IP address in the Address bar instead.
Keep in mind that you can change your Linksys router's IP address by running the Linksys router's setup CD, and then change the router's IP address on its web-based setup page. In the case you forgot your Linksys router's IP address, you can restore the default value by pressing the Reset button at the back of your Linksys router for 30 seconds.
Step 3: A new pop-up window will prompt you to enter User name and Password. Type admin in the Username fields, enter your router's password in the Password fields, and then click on OK. If this does not work, then leave the User name field blank, enter your Linksys router's password, and then click OK. The default value for the password is "admin".
Finally, if you are unable to access your router's web-based setup interface, then reset your Linksys router for 30 seconds, and try to access it again using its default IP address, which 192.168.1.1
