Hello
Meet Rich and Lisa of Petaluma. They recently sold their house and had to take it back from the previous buyers due to the market. The buyers had made several changes that took away usability and value and now Rich and Lisa had to suffer thru the repairs to make the back yard worthy of being in Sunset Magazine. So they turned to Cupp Bros Construction premier concrete contractor of Santa Rosa.
Rich and Lisa had to remove two old wood decks and a patch of grass that was not kept up. That also meant removing irrigation, old electrical, plants and sprinklers. There were a few trees that had been removed so they also had to grind the stumps to get everything down to a place where she could envision what she wanted to do with her new backyard canvas' and now she was the painter.
We went thru with several layout possibilities, with lots of paint, garden hoses, and electrical cords laying on the ground so she could envision the final product. She went with a 3+ foot border off the back and side fences, and then she did not want them straight. She came up with some whoop-de-doos' (technical terms for not-straight). She had lots of decisions to make like drainage and run off of water off the concrete, elevations (she picked to reduce one step off the doors, make large round steps, add one step on the side yard), concrete stamp pattern and concrete color combinations. Everything came out beautiful!
She was adamant about having a small space for a vegetable garden. She was going to have a exterior radius landscape garden for plants and flowers, and she wanted to plant some new proper trees. She has her work cut out for her with plant selection for color, fragrance, size and maintenance. She also wants some for shade and some to compliment the rear fence and BBQ area.
They also are dog lovers with three dogs (and that's not counting when they dog sit the neighbors dogs-now we have a large dog party!), so they needed a yard that had usability and function ability for the dogs and maintenance to be easy. Poop pickup and concrete cleanup is now an easy matter! They have awesome dogs, large, and well trained. They listen to their masters.
Lisa has an eye for what she wants and is very cleaver with taking things in steps so she can continue on with improvements due to time, money or proper order of things. Personally I can't wait to come back and take a video when she is done with the painting, landscaping, and outdoor BBQ/Kitchen area. She had gas, electrical, irrigation and chase ways run under or around our concrete so she can pick up with improvements when she is ready.
We now have proper drainage with sloping concrete to a landscape island with two drains and one drainage box for cleanout and maintenance. This all now runs with solid pipe to the street. Great Job!
Again, thanks Rich and Lisa with trusting us with your colored stamped concrete patio. Please view the video for a full dairy of what was done and the outcome. We never got into the concrete mix, concrete strength, concrete reinforcing with rebar or having to use a concrete pumper to get the concrete to the back yard, and the selection of the concrete color hardeners or the concrete release powder from Brickform.
