1. OK so the first thing you need to do is figure out what type of strawberries you want to grow. There are 2 types according to flowering habit which include "June-Bearing" strawberries which bear their fruit in the early summer. The other type is "Ever-Bearing" which will give you several crops of fruit throughout the season. Plants will need to be dug up and replaced every 3-5 years.

Strawberries will need a lot of sun, so a nice sunny spot outside your home will be the best place! If for some reason you don't have alot of horizontal space, you can grow your strawberries in a planter or hanging basket!

3. Now you will need to choose a container for your strawberries. No matter which container you decide to go with (clay, wood, plastic or other material) make sure it has a soild depth of at least 12 inches to allow the roots to grow.

4. Did you decide on your strawberry type from step one? Basically if you want fruit sooner then you will want "Ever-Bearing" plants, which can give you fruit the very first year. "June-Bearing" plants will bear in spring or early summer (meaning you normally plant them now for next year).

5. Maintain and enjoy! Protect your strawberries with netting to protect from wildlife, and birds. We aren't the only ones who like strawberries. Also remember to keep them well watered, and your plants should be productive for at least 2-3 years!
