Power of Words!
What's in a word? Letters and sounds, meanings and messages! Some words sound the same. Some words have similar meanings. Oftentimes the tone of voice with which we speak defines the meaning, as can an exclamation point in written format. For example: I love you!' vs. I love you? We see or say the same exact words, but connote two entirely different meanings.
Words, words, words! The most powerful tool we share in the world...Our means of communication and the definition and description of our experiences!! The power of words is something we really need to learn and understand. Stop and think about the power of words. Knowing and understanding their power will teach and train us to carefully choose and use this most powerful of tools available to us.
Think about CEOs meeting in board rooms to close major business deals, or, heads-of-state in peace treaty meetings to end or prevent wars. Think about the believers who run to a synagogue or church to hear a word from the Lord. One wrong' word or negative tone can change the course of history!
How many of us use words to manipulate, escape, lie, cheat, get out of trouble, transfer blame? We use words to put someone in their place, to pull ourselves up and keep others down; we use words to fake our way through situations.
Those of us who truly understand the power of words take time to carefully choose them. Many believe that if we give words of encouragement and affirmation, that we, ourselves, are lifted, encouraged and inspired.
What is the difference? Very simply...your word choice!! We have the power to choose how we use the words we are taught. The beauty of words is exactly that: choice. The choice is yours.
Words are a reflection of what's going on inside of you! Your choice to use words to tear down and manipulate reflect your dark side. I invite you to invoke your light side and make the choice to choose words to lift, encourage, admire, inspire!
In school we are taught new words to expand our vocabulary. I encourage you to now expand your mind: know and consider the power of all those words you learned and understand how they work!!! Use your words to make a positive difference!
