Homeowners in Great Britain have been warned to be careful of burglars this summer, and make sure that they are implementing the same sort of safety that they would in the winter months. The summer months have historically represented peaks in the amount of claims that are seen by home insurers, and in 2008 there were over eight hundred thousand burglaries in June, July and august. People are advised to cancel any deliveries that may be scheduled to arrive when they are away on holiday, and to ask a friend or neighbour to keep an eye on their house while they are abroad.
Home owners have also been warned about security even when they are home. In the summer months, we are more likely to go and lay in the garden leaving the door open, or to have a barbeque and leave access for people to come in and out of the house. The opportunist burglar sees this as a great idea, as they can easily slip into the house without anyone noticing, and raid your goods. Be as safe and secure as you would be in winter, making sure to not leave the door on the catch, and take a key with you out into the garden. Cars are also broken into more often, as people are more likely to leave windows slightly open to stop them melting when they return to their vehicle.
Make sure that you have a valid Home Insurance policy by having a shop around online. Policies are readily available here, and you will save time to spend catching the rays in the garden!
