Malaga Airport Terminal Three
Malaga Airport Terminal Three

The long awaited opening of Malaga Airport terminal 3 has now been and gone so this is a good opportunity to bring you up to speed on the things that are better and those that are worse for travellers to and from Malaga Airport.

Flying from Malaga Airport

If you are flying to the UK, unless it is with British Airways then the bed news is that you still have to book in to your flight at the old terminal 2 building.

Once booked in you have to go through the security control so now you have to head over to terminal 3 where you now have a barrier style cueing system. During peak times this seems to take a little bit longer the before so allow a little extra time.

One through security you will see more on offer with a host of new shops and restaurants. You can choose from the new Seafood Bar to the brand new Pizza Hut or you can just head for the usual airport facilities.

The gates are accessed pretty much the same as before although gates C will be easier to get to from terminal 3.

Flying in to Malaga Airport

Again if you are flying from the UK you will land and have to walk to passport control in terminal 3, now you have to walk across to the baggage reclaim area in the older terminal 2 and once you have your baggage you have to head back over to terminal 3 to find the car hire firms and exit the airport.

There are actually far more facilities at terminal 3 before you check in with the first Starbucks Coffee Shop anywhere on the Costa del Sol, the second Burger King Whopper Bar in the world, the famous fusion tapas bar La Moraga, a VIPS restaurant and many shops for things like baggage etc.
