Is the iPad Just a Gimmick?
Is the iPad Just a Gimmick?

When the iPad was released many people shied away from them, believing them simply to be an oversized iPhone which didn't even have the facility to let you make calls. But is this actually the case and can they benefit people who already have a great phone and a great computer? Just what else do they add?

Many saw them as a gimmick, but actually they are an extremely obvious next step, combining the power of a computer with the versatility and ingenuity of an item such as the iPhone. Whilst the iPhone offers extremely great functionality, efficiency and ease, along with a great range of apps, they are often too small to fully enjoy many of the functions they can be used for. This is where the iPads come in, allowing people to surf the net, read papers and books, watch films and play games on a screen that is the perfect size for it.

Far more portable than a computer, and far more useful than a phone, it perfectly straddles the two, taking from each their primary benefits and merging them into one great product, whilst managing to remain surprisingly cheap in the process.

Many people have found using an iPad for business, and even using an iPad for education is extremely beneficial. Keeping in touch on the move is far easier which is one reason why many people use the iPad for business, but they are also extremely fast as well as being much more functional. It is therefore easier to collaborate and also to create presentations. The collaboration ability is also what makes many people firm believers in using the iPad for education too.

So whether you want to read books and watch movies in the most flexible way, work on the move, or simply help make teaching a much more enjoyable and collaborative process, the iPad is far from just a gimmick.
