Heavy rain is a bit of a problem in the UK, and when we are driving it can often hamper our journey and make us worried about our safety. The AA have a special team who deal with flood rescue and they suggest these tips to stop you from getting into trouble when the water starts to come down hard.

On the same note, maintain a safe distance behind the driver in front, as stopping distances are longer and they might brake suddenly if uncertain of the situation. If your steering becomes heavy or unresponsive, slow down gradually and stop safely.
If you have to drive through water then drive very slowly, as driving fast can cause massive damage that is expensive to fix, if it is possible. If water is sucked into the engine it can spell the death of the car, so be very careful. If you do break down, don't pop the bonnet open as it will soak the electrics, making it even harder for the car to be started.
