They are made from a strong polyethylene with grates inserted into the top of this unit. They have the access slots, usually on all four sides, that will allow for easy movement by forklift.
When a leak from any of the drums on these pallets occurs, it will be conducted through the grates into the reservoir that will hold the contents of 2 drums worth of liquid. This will make it possible to prevent this substance from getting to the floor. If it does not get on the floor, it does not become an actual spill.
When a leak is discovered, the entire pallet can be moved to a special location for the emptying and cleaning that will have to happen for reissue. The barrels can be removed and the leaking one can be drained into another properly labeled container. The reservoir can be emptied and cleaned out with the appropriate neutralizing and cleansing solutions.
Since a spill never happened, all of the complicated procedures and reporting will not have to be done. These pallets will help prevent leakage by protecting the drums while sitting on the unit. These units can also be used to store, dispense and transport chemicals that, according to all of the regulations must have a secondary containment system anyway.
