subject: Facts About Wireless Speaker Systems [print this page]

In the past, listening to music required extensive set-up. You had to purchase a high quality sound system and set of speakers, then connect a mass of wires to get everything to work correctly. Nowadays, though, you can bypass much of that by using one of several wireless speaker systems offered for sale in the United States. You can get a wireless system that includes a single speaker, a dual set, or even surround sound.

Wireless speakers can be used both outside and inside the house. Outside, they have a significant advantage over boom boxes, which require batteries. In addition, of course, a wireless system is far preferable to trying to move and rewire a traditional speaker set.

Wireless speakers work just as well as traditional speakers do; music fans will not lose much in the way of sound quality.

Less commonly, wireless speakers can use infrared technology to transmit the signal. This technology is mainly used in home theatre systems and is less convenient to use. Infrared signals cannot move through obstacles, requiring the user to clear a path between the audio device and the speaker prior to use.

Most wireless speakers are built for outdoor use and are therefore extremely durable. Adverse weather should not have much of an effect on these speakers, although common sense dictates putting them away during a blizzard, hurricane, or other severe weather problem.

However, leaving them on a porch overnight should not interfere with their normal operation. The durability of materials used in wireless speakers can sometimes muffle sound if the transmitter is located too far away from the receiver.

When using wireless speaker systems, just make sure you use common sense. Do not leave too large of a gap between the signal and the speaker, and do not leave the speakers outside in poor weather. The speakers will be sure to deliver years of quality music if their owners simply follow these guidelines.
