Travelling quite a long distance from Chennai lies Delhi, national capital territory of India. It is the second most populous metropolis. Delhi is known to be continuously populated since 16th century BC. Delhi is believed to be the place of Indraprastha, the legendary capital of Pandavas. After the rise of Delhi Sultanate, Delhi emerged as a cultural, political, and commercial city. Many ancient, medieval and archaeological sites reside here. Delhi features a typical sub-tropical climate.

Delhi is situated around 2270 Km from Chennai. Driving on the NH 7, one has to pass through Hyderabad and Lucknow before reaching Delhi. The average time taken for a road trip is around 1 day and 10 hours.

When it comes to selecting the best mode of transport, one will be spoilt with choices as transportation options between them include road, rails and air.

Choosing rail as a mode of transport, there are quite a lot train connection to travel from Chennai to Delhi. The total fare normally is around Rs.537 to Rs. 780 only, in local trains. In Rajadani Express, fare may be around Rs. 2000. Cheapest mode of transport to reach from Chennai to Delhi may be by rails. Doronto Express departs from Chennai at 06:45 am and reaches Delhi at 10:35 am next day.

Choosing road as a mode of transport is another good option. There are many connecting buses from Chennai to Delhi. But one must split routes and travel. Overnight connections are more than day time.

If one doesnt fancy travelling by bus, a private taxi would be another option which can easily cost Rs.43000 and upwards for a round trip. This maybe a good option, when one is travelling with family, senior citizens and children.

Alternatively, travelling by airway is another option. These are direct flights. The fare is also economical. Air India, Kingfisher, Jet, Indigo are the domestics flights available.
