subject: Toronto Blue Jays 2012 Uniforms [print this page] In November 2011, the Blue Jays introduced their new uniforms for the 2012 Season with almost everything being redesigned. This is a franchises re-branding effort.
Logo
Fans are having problems with the logos basically in 3 areas. The maple leaf is too big, there is no stitching through the maple leaf, and the font is different between Toronto and Blue Jays
The split lettering for the clubs name was to symbolize both the past and the future and the other fan problems with the logos will just take some acceptance and getting used to it.
But overall, the blue white-striped circle, surrounding the logo looks great and it is really hard to criticize it when you think that the team has been dealing with the logo of the angry bird for a long time with the primary colors being gray and black.
Hat
The Jays new hat is a solid hit! It shows the secondary club logo with the head of the Jays bird alone and Torontos are the very 1st MLB team to use the Majestics new PUFF PATCH on the logos, which brings the logo almost to life having a 3-dimensional facet. The club will also wear the same cap with all three Blue Jays jersey for 2012 uniforms, except the Spring Training jersey. The same design is also on the batting helmets but with a logo that is smaller.
Jerseys
Everyone is relieved that they didnt redesign the entire Blue Jays jersey for 2012. The Jays home white and road gray jerseys are almost exactly copies of the classic jerseys worn from 1989 to 1996. The Blue Jays jersey for 2012 are great looking with the only modification being the vibrant and PUFF logo style with no red stitching n behind.
The organization did well on the jersey; bring together the teams history with its rousing future. The jerseys are simple, for example, no piping, shoulder patches, or neck trim.
To replace the alternate black jersey is a super royal blue Jays jersey for 2012 that can be worn with gray pants on the road or white pants at home. Many feel that this is the best-looking jersey of all of them and an addition that is welcome, since it really brings out the teams name of BLUE Jays.
Lettering & Numbering
On the back of the Blue Jays jersey for 2011, the player names will be in a very familiar script, one that goes along with Blue Jays history. The simplicity of the lettering on the jerseys is welcome. Perhaps this new lettering for the players names will bring an end to the gaps between the players names that are inconsistent as well as the inconsistent gaps between the letters on various uniforms in the past.
As for the numbering, no complains there either. The players who were in the debut video and the jerseys online being featured at the Jays Shop show all but only two of the new numbers will look like 7 and 8have not been seen. All of them look fantastic, particularly the cut of the 2 that is sharper and looks similar to the number that was used 20th anniversary logo and patch.
The only one that is hard to understand is the 1. The point that is jagged really contrasts with the curved nature of all the other digits, and is diverse from those same numbers on the older jerseys. Most fans really arent going to care, since two of the Jays most popular players, wear jerseys with the 1 as part of their number but thats the only problem that anyone has with the jerseys.
