Took necessary precautions I wore safety gear,like gloves and mask and kept a respirator handy to tackle emergency situations efficiently. These gears protected my eyes and lungs from the harmful effects of dust and chemical sprays.I ensure that I conduct the process in a well ventilated area to protect myself from the ill-effects of the chemicals which may even prove to be fatal. Then, I covered up the areas of the car that have no rust on them. This prevented the dust particles from accumulating on the other parts of the cars body. Rather than using newspapers for this purpose, I used masking paper. The latter is non-porous in nature and, thus, would not allow dust particles and chemical sprays to seep through them and soil the cars body. I taped the edges of the masking paper to the car, so that the papers do not get displaced.
Removed the paint I used a Double Action (DA) Sander to remove both the primer and the paint of the car. I kept rubbing on the surface with the sander till the painted and the unpainted surface became smooth.
Removed the rust I used a metal grinding wheel to remove the rust particles. The fine rust particles that had been left behind were removed by applying acid. Subsequently, I used a body filler to even out the dents and smooth the rusted area.
Applied primer- I cleaned the area with paint thinner before applying primer. The primer that I chose was one that can be used to paint a bare metal surface. I sprayed the area with an auto spray of a color that matched the color of my car. I applied the primer evenly over the surface and waited for a couple of minutes to let it dry. Then, I repeated the process two more times and left it to dry for about twelve hours.
Paint the area I applied a coat of paint on the primer. Then, I rubbed over the paint with a sand paper to de-gloss the surface. I cleaned the sand paper with water frequently and washed the painted area with soap water. After applying several coats of paint, I tapped the area and left it to dry for a day. Then, I buffed the edges of the paint coat, so that it emerges well with the color on the rest of the car. As the surface of your car is glossy, I applied a clear paint to match the glossy appearance of the car. I washed and the polished the car. Remember not to wax the car for a month to retain the fresh coats of paint.
