Of course, about the Sikhs there cannot be the slightest mistake, but the Amritsari Sikh has very little in common with his strong and sturdy coreligionist from the muffassil. There are several high schools in the city, and the Khasala College is a very flourishing Sikh institution. Of late, Amritsar has been the center of great political activity. The martial law was first proclaimed here, and Amritsar had to pay heavily for the misguided zeal of a few foolish people. The city is worth visiting for the sake of the golden temple at least, if for nothing else.
