If you have a keen eye for fashion and have a passion for clothes with a little research you may be able to turn your interest into a career choice. The subject of fashion offers so many different career choices and various avenues you may go down. There is retail, being shops and boutiques, and then there are magazines and fashion houses. You could work for an individual designer or group of designers. As with any other career you will need to start at the bottom and work your way up and there will be a lot of hard work required before you are noticed and your efforts are recognised. You may be interested in store management or sales and marketing jobs in fashion. If you are artistic you may be interested in design and creative jobs in fashion. Between design and retail you have product and supply chain jobs to consider.

A good place to start is with a college education or a University degree you stand a much better chance to being accepted for an apprenticeship if you have shown a keen interest and dedication for fashion by studying. Education and training is so important if you wish to succeed in the world of fashion study for a bachelors of fine art degree or a diploma in fashion and design. There are hundreds of recognised design, art or fashion qualifications that will help you on your way to a full time and permanent job role in fashion. There is the option of applying for an internship which is when you will learn hands on while working for a design or manufacturing firm.

There is a little more to a career in fashion than an education and the ability to work hard. Aspiring fashion designers require an ability to sketch, sew and design patterns. An artistic and creative flare is essential this skill is often one that has been developing from a very young age. With fashion design an organic passion is often the one attribute required by anyone wishing to embark upon a fruitful career in the field. Other attributes and helpful personality traits required for a career in fashion are good communication skills with an emphasis on sales. You will have to be able to sell your brand and interpersonal skills are extremely important. If you are interested in fashion you will no doubt be up to date will all the latest trends and whats hot this season and what fashions are coming up in the next. The internet is a fabulous tool to help you become more knowledgeable in your desired field.
