Nashik (or Nasik), popularly known as Indias Napa Valley, is the third largest city in the state of Maharashtra. Nashik is also known as the pilgrimage capital of India. It is located in the Western Ghats on the banks of the river Godavari. This bustling city labeled as a green belt area is famous for its picturesque surroundings and pleasant climate.

Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, is the seventh largest metropolitan city in India. Nested near the Western Ghats, Pune is home to many prestigious educational and research institutions, and top class technology companies. This city known as the Oxford of the East is ranked as a global city. Pune offers a wide range of choices for tourists.

Pune is located at a distance of 208 km via NH 50, 284 km via NH 3 and Mumbai -Pune Expressway, and 276 km via SH 27, from Nashik. Pune is well connected with Nashik by road and rail.

From Nashik to Pune, it takes around 5 hours by road. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and many private operators run buses from Nashik to Pune daily on a regular and frequent basis. Private bus operators charge between Rs. 400 and Rs.750 depending on the bus type. MSRTC operates ordinary day buses, semi luxury buses, AC-Shivneri buses and AC- Sheetal buses from Nashik to Pune. Ticket fare for an adult in ordinary, semi luxury, Sheetal and Shivneri buses is Rs.194, Rs.258, Rs.345 and Rs. 480 respectively. Travelers can board these buses from Nashik Central Bus Stand and get down at Shivajinagar, which is at the heart of Pune city. Alternatively, one can hire a Taxi from Nashik and for an economy type Indica car it will cost around Rs. 4340 (for a round trip). Petrol pumps, restaurants, small hotels and ATMs are available on the route from Nashik to Pune.

Nashik Road (NK) railway station is around 10 km from Nashik city centre. Over 50 trains make a stop here. Bhusaval Pune Express (No 11025) is a daily train from Nashik to Pune and takes a travel time of 6 hours 40 minutes. Fare in an AC Chair is Rs. 307. Pune Junction railway station is situated in the city centre and is easily accessible from any part of the city. Both these railway stations have well maintained waiting and retiring rooms, tourist information centres, and restaurants offering both vegetarian and non vegetarian cuisines. Advance tickets can be booked from almost all the reservation counters.

Nashik's Ozar Airport is located at a distance of 24 km from the city. At present the airport does not have commercial air transport but will soon operate flights after upgradation to an airport with international standards.
