subject: Back-to-school Means Party Time Is Here! [print this page]

You can be the source to go to if you stock up on party supplies as soon as school begins. When school begins, it's the start of the big party season. It's not just the mothers partying because summer ended, but also a barrage of holidays and after game get-togethers often signaled by the start of the school year. While there are birthdays year around, you'll find there are more birthday parties once school begins.

Get holiday decorations ordered and begin stocking shelves so you have plenty of time to spare. When the school bells start ringing, start stocking your shelves with great decorations for Halloween. Don't forget lots of orange and black streamers for this spookiest of holidays. While you're ordering streamers, make certain you have an ample amount in the colors chosen by local schools. Elementary schools, middle schools and high schools all have their own colors and if you don't know them, call the school to find out what they are.

Streamers and decorations aren't the only supplies you'll need to carry. If there's a party, there must be food! Stock up on plates, napkins and even plastic wear that match the school colors or holiday. Black or orange plates covered with ghosts, goblins and skeletons make a huge hit at any party. Inexpensive decorations for the table can also add to the festivities. Paper tablecloths and centerpieces will fly off the shelves like hotcakes when you offer them at your dollar store prices. When considering Halloween, don't forget to stock up on those goodie bags for little goblins to carry from house to house begging for treats.

Of course, Halloween and local games are only the start of the holiday season. Before you know it, Thanksgiving decorations are in order, so start preparing enough ahead to line your shelves. You'll also want to get a head start on stocking Christmas wrap, decorations and Christmas cards. Cards are normally the first Christmas items to leave a store with decorations and wrap following.

You'll find that tissue paper and seasonal gift bags are a huge hit, too. Don't forget to keep your display of tape, stickers, ribbon, tags and special cards in the same area to remind your shoppers, in case they forgot to put them on the shopping list. Keeping all holiday wrapping and decorations together can increase your ancillary item sales.
