Arsenals Glowing History

One of the most popular and successful football clubs ever, its traces its origin back to 1886 when it started out as the Dial Square Club. It underwent plenty of changes until 1925, when the illustrious Herbert Chapman took over. He brought about many changes which made Arsenal successful. These included professionalism in training, changes in team jerseys, buying players unheard of those days. The club went on to win major trophies, many repeat successes during his eventful tenure at the club.

Gunning for Glory

Post the Chapman era, the club saw plenty of ups and downs where the results were not very encouraging. In 1996, Arsene Wenger was appointed as the manager. This turned out to be blessing in disguise. He was responsible for some big ticket player signings for the club, devised amazing strategies, improved training programs etc. The club became one of the most successful, including having 49 match unbeaten streak in FA Cup, plenty of FA Cup victories including 13 championship titles.

The club has been home to plenty of famous players including Ian Wright, David OLeary and of course, the prolific Thierry Henry. The most number of records at Arsenal are still held by Henry whose meteoric rise was made possible by the excellent mentorship of Arsene Wenger. He ended his career at Arsenal as Captain whose tenure is studded with plenty of victories for the club including helping himself to many Player of the Year Awards. This being one of the reasons, many of the arsenal tickets getting sold out minutes after bookings open is not surprising.

The club also became a darling of the sponsors, earning a lot of fame and money through sale of arsenal tickets. The logos to be featured in its jersey include famed names such as JVC, O2 and currently, Emirates. The clubs home ground is named the Emirates stadium based on its principal sponsors name, who had signed a sponsorship deal worth a record 100 million.

Not many are aware that there is also a ladies Arsenal team, managed by Laura Harvey, but it has not been as successful as the mens team. The club has also been popular because of plenty of charity initiatives, through the Arsenal Charitable Trust. The clubs strength lies in its loyal fan base whose unflinching support has been instrumental in the club carrying out various activities.
