subject: Knowledge Vs Belief [print this page]

Beliefs are handed down to us from families, traditions, organizations, tribes, associations, rituals, and so on and so forth. Beliefs are collected banks of information that have been handed down to us, whereas knowledge is gained from experience on the gut level, originating from belief or faith. Beliefs are a little more than a collection of inherited information and the substance of things hoping for the things that are unseen, while knowledge is absolute and proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Beliefs can be easily crumbled when doubt enters, whereas knowledge cannot be affected when doubt lurks around the corner. A knowing permeates the being, while a belief operates from the surface level. Limiting Beliefs ultimately imprison an individual, while knowing will set him free!

Knowledge is potential power, whereas a belief doesn"t have the same support and can let you down during a crisis or a major disaster. However absolute certainty, or a knowing, will support you and never let you down, even in an uncompromising situation. Believing in something without knowing for certain will automatically have doubt attached to it. We believe in something based upon what others have told us, but soon as the truth appears, those beliefs tend to evaporate like the morning dew. Knowing comes from experience or conscious contact with something or someone.

Knowledge is a comprehensive understanding of a person, thing, or condition. It can include facts and information, as well as understanding that is gained through experience, training, or reason. It can be implicit, as with practical skill or expertise, or explicit, as with the theoretical understanding of a subject. It can be more or less formal or systematic.

In philosophy, the study of knowledge is called epistemology, and the philosopher Plato famously defined knowledge as "justified true belief." There is however, no single agreed upon definition of knowledge, and there are numerous theories to explain it. Some methods of generating knowledge include trial and error, or learning from personal

experiences however, the best knowledge is from your inner world or your core spirit where there is infinite wisdom, wealth and abundance.
