subject: The Growing Way Of Modern Translation Services And Role Of Tamil Language [print this page]

In past centuries peoples were staying inside of their countries only. They don"t want to know about others culture, technology etc. Because they thought what are available with them is always enough for their life, so they do not shows interest to know other things. But in exceptional Scholars like Yuan Swang, Bakiyaan etc, they wish to learn new culture and etc., so they travelled the places and learn local languages along with other important things then they translated it into their local languages. In ancient days translations available in this much only and no need more.

But now a day due to globalization specific language peoples are spreads and living across the world. And things manufactured in one country selling in other country even in continents. And same technology used in one place is spreading all over world. But in all over world languages are not same. Currently world has more than 100 major languages and uncountable other languages.

Here is need of translations suppose products made in one area also sells in some other area, but if product name and description available only in native language that will be complicated for users results product fails to fulfill its purpose. Whatever it may be it like a manual, a book, names, technology guides or policies are available in their local language is better understandable and easy to reach peoples also. This condition also applicable in service sector also.

Same condition applicable also in Tamil language. Tamil is an ancient classic language having 3000 years of history. Previous days some of ancient Scholars translated few great Tamil poems into their native languages (E.g.: Tirukkural, Naaladiyaar Etc). And very few translated from their languages into Tamil. Now huge requirement for translation of English to Tamil and Tamil to English very few from other language to Tamil. In 1950s after freedom all government documents mainly available in English, but local leaders wants to convert into native. That time clerks were working with hand written. But now everything is changed into technology. Tamil translations growing due to large requirements of available sources from other language.
