subject: Various Types Of Data And Voice Cabling [print this page]

Voice and data cabling systems hold and support the basic communication that takes place every day between different organizational structures. Essentially the system maintains proper communication and to maintain it. To make it precise and effective you need to plan a lot and pay a lot of attention to details. Too many applications are dependent on these systems like transmission of computer data, transmission of telephone network data and other types of data transfer. Different types of Data and voice cabling are available from which you can choose from a setup that suits the needs of your organization.

A Unshielded twisted pair cable is the cheapest cable for Voice and data transfer that you could install. It is also called UTP and it is made from pairs of wires that are twisted around each other inside a larger plastic tube or frame. The purpose of twisting these wires around each other is to reduce the possibility of crosstalk between cables as one of the cables. That is how electrical and radio disturbances are negated. There is still a little interference but for typical data and voice transfer it is negligible. A shielded twisted pair system is used when more fidelity is required in the communication network. In this cabling system the regular twisted wires are covered by a layer of metallic foil around which comes the plastic jacket. The addition of the metallic mesh or foil reduces the interference a degree more than your standard shielded twisted pair cables. STP is slightly more costly than your regular UTP. But both of these options are the cheapest and reliable Data and voice cabling.

Coaxial cables are another cabling system that is used for highly reliable transmissions of voice and data. Coaxial cables have cores of copper that is ideal to transfer data efficiently. This is covered with a plastic coating which is co0vered by a metallic cover. Both these covers reduce the reduce electrical and radio interference to a very large extent. Compared to twisted pair cables coaxial cables are much more resistant to interference. However the cost of coaxial Data and voice cabling is more than that of twisted pair cables

Fibre optic cables are much more costly than than any other Data and voice cabling but it is also immune to any electrical or radio interference. In fibre optic systems voice or data is transferred through light signals. The cabling has a glass core. The glass core being really thin can bend easily hence it can be used easily to make the wires. The light signals are transmitted throught this flexible glass core. That is why this is more reliable and faster than any Data and voice cabling system. This also allows it to be set up for really long distance cabling. The good thing is that it requires less maintenance than any other Data and voice cabling system which makes it the most economical system to use.

Data and voice cabling system is the central source of your company's interaction framework and creating it more powerful and more efficient will impact the development of your company straight.
