subject: Finding The Right Charlotte Roofing Contractors [print this page]

After the last storm and it appeared that I had some damage to my roof and that is the first time I even gave a thought to the need for Charlotte roofing contractors. I called my insurance company to file a claim and they told me to call a few roof contractors for estimates, and that is when it occurred to me that this would be a totally foreign experience for me. I knew absolutely nothing about roof repair or replacement, and I know even less about roofing companies.

I did know that just as in any profession, there are exceptional businesses and there are some that are not going to give the best service or provide the highest quality. I was fearful of making a wrong choice of roofing contractor. Fortunately, there are a lot of resources to help consumers to find the contractors who enjoy good reputations in the community. Beyond that, I wanted to find the roofing companies that used the highest quality materials and that stood behind their work.

Roofing contractors in Charlotte and Concord area

The first thing that I noticed is that there is a large number of roofing contractors in the Charlotte area. When I checked for the names of those on Angie's list, this was somewhat helpful, but there are still a significant number of contractors on the list to choose.

I decided to look at the list of contractors with a great rating with the Better Business bureau. This was helpful because there are some contractors that you may be tempted to call because of their big fancy advertisements, but some of the contractors with the fanciest ads had a complaint or two, thus, it saved me some time and needless phone calls.

I learned that the shingle manufacturers actually have a program where they certify roofing contractors to install their products. These select contractors have proven to the manufacturer that they possess the skill and the expertise to install the materials exactly according to the manufacturer's satisfaction.

So I narrowed my search to contractors that were certified by the highest rated materials manufacturer. I finally found three contractors that made me feel confident. The bid and estimate process was where I was firmly convinced to make the right choice. The winning contractor was courteous and knowledgeable. Their estimate and contract was clear and detailed.

The contractor explained it me what material would be used and why it was chosen. They explained how long the job would take and what hours they intended to work. I got the impression that they really wanted to do a great job and not just get through it in a hurry, even when I know that they were extremely busy. As the work progressed, they kept their word in every promise.
