subject: Winter Is Back Again [print this page]

Yes, yes, yes; its back againYes, yes, yes; its back again. The season that we all love; winter is here again. So were back to cuddling and lazing while hot coffee and wonderful evenings await us all along. Its a season when everybody is in a celebratory mood. A season when reminiscing about the past, holidaying and socializing is the mantra of the masses. Many bestseller authors around the globe have bet their money on this season and have found success pretty often. So while you enjoy the spirit of this wonderful period here are some best selling books by some of the most popular authors of all times.

The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats

o book has captured the magic and sense of possibility of the first snowfall better than The Snowy Day. Universal in its appeal, the story has become a favourite of millions, as it reveals a child's wonder at a new world, and the hope of capturing and keeping that wonder forever. There's a reason this book is a classic, Keats was able to really listen to the phrase "less is more" when he created this perfect little kids book. The pictures are warm and inviting, they directly interact with the text, making each page a fun adventure playing in the winter. Peter explores many of my favourite aspects of playing with snow, from snow ball fights (though he decides not to take part), to snow angels, to trying to hold on to snow even inside (even though the snow ball melts in his pocket).

The Mitten by Jan Brett

The story is about a young Ukrainian boy who asks his grandmother to knit him warm white mittens. Eventually, she finally decides to knit them for him. His grandmother warns him that if he is to lose his mittens, he will have a hard time finding them in the snow. Nicki tells grandma that he wont lose them, but that is one of the first things that happens to him. While Nicki is out looking for his white mitten, the animals from the forest encounter his white mitten and start going inside and making it their home. All the animals, the rabbit, hedgehog, owl, badger, fox, and bear pack themselves as tight as they can. Once the bear sneezes, all of the animals pop out of the mitten and up in the air the mitten goes, that Nicki is able to find his mitten, just when he is about to give up.
