subject: Digitally Controlled Refractometer Used To Evaluate Refractive Index Of Material [print this page]

Weiber Digital Refractometer is designed for the measurement of refractive index, average dispersion of liquids, solids and for determination of percentage sugar content in aqueous solutions. In view of high accuracy achieved with the use of even a few drops of liquid or substance under test the refractometric measurement present a convenient and economical method of testing. They find their applications wherever the components of mixture show various indexes of refraction. The refractometric measurements are applied to research and control works in chemical and food industry.

When a liquid sample is applied to the measuring surface of the some of the light is transmitted through the solution and lost while the remaining light is reflected onto a linear array of photodiodes creating a shadow line. The refractive index is directly related to the position of the shadow line on the photodiodes. Once the position of the shadow line has been automatically determined by the instrument, the internal software will correlate the position to refractive index, or to another unit of measure related to refractive index, and display a digital readout.

Our digital handheld refractometer gives you lab accuracy with a handheld unit: twice the accuracy, twice the range, at half the cost of other units. And its easy to use. The state-of-the-art AR200 digital handheld measures refractive index, % solids as Brix, or concentration over a broad range: 1.3300-1.5600 ND (0 to 95% Brix) with exacting accuracy to 0.0001 nD (+/- 0.1% Brix). Easily connected to a PC, allowing for measurements to be saved and evaluated at a later date, it incorporates the refractive index, sugar and salt scales, with the option to add two other user-defined scales. Weiber offers more flexibility than most handheld devices it can be easily calibrated, and has an optional temperature compensation feature. Add from the range of accessories the 9V power supply, and it transforms into a small mobile laboratory refractometer.

The weight of its evenly-balanced design can be held easily in any size hand, even during extended periods of use. The positive response buttons on the keypad provide tactile feedback to the operator when pressed. A strong plastic enclosure is sealed to guard against liquid and dust penetration, while an integrated prism cover helps prevent sample evaporation and protects the sapphire measuring surface from possible damage. Acmas technocracy high-end performance and precision at a low price; making the acmas one of the best values available.
