Does the thought of spending a whole weekend covered from head to toe with baking ingredients fill you with dread? Not to mention the aftermath youll have to clean up in the kitchen! What if you could spend less time in the kitchen, making only one type of cookie and yet you had dozens of different cookies to keep the cookie platter primed or to give as gifts this holiday season?

Thats the premise behind a cookie exchange. Heres how it works. Solicit a group of friends to participate (12-15). You agree to bake one dozen cookies for each participant, including yourself, plus one additional dozen to share on the day of the exchange. Then you get together on the designated date, sample everyones goodies and exchange the delicious results. Depending on the number who participates, you will leave with between 8 to 12 dozen different special treats that will carry you through the holiday season.

To make a cookie exchange successful -

Limit exchange group to between 8-12 people. Less than eight doesnt provide enough variety; more than 12 requires too much baking for each person.

Each person makes a dozen cookies for every person participating plus one dozen to share on the day of the exchange. For example, if there are 10 participants, each person makes 11 dozen cookies.

Please bring a copy of the recipe to share with everyone.

The cookie exchange will only be successful only if

Everyone bakes by the rules

Homemade cookies only. No store-bought or buy, slice and bake types!

Use the appropriate ingredients if the recipe calls for butter, use butter not a light or not recommended for baking substitute

Bring cookies to the exchange pre-packaged in festive holiday bags, plastic bags or other containers with one dozen cookies in each.

And last, but not least, make sure to bring in all the cookies to work and share with your co-workers. My co-workers at Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance

thoroughly enjoyed them!
