subject: Hotels To Fit Your Needs [print this page]

There are many types of hotels available and some will fit your needs better than others. Lodging options range from luxurious to modest. The type that will work for you may vary by occasion, as well. Sometimes you simply need a bed to sleep in and a bathroom to shower in the morning before hitting the road again on a long journey. Other times, you're on vacation and plan to stay awhile. Sometimes, you're alone; sometimes you've brought your spouse or partner; and other times you may have the whole family with you. All of these, as well as your budget, will weigh in on your decision.

How Long Do You Plan To Stay?

If you're planning a weeklong vacation, you're going to want a place that feels like a home away from home. Having a space with a kitchen and more than one room is ideal. If you have cooking facilities, this will allow you to prepare at least some of your meals. While going to restaurants is fun, it can get very expensive if you eat out for every meal the entire time you're there. Kitchenettes in hotels often include a microwave, a cook top, a refrigerator, some dishes, utensils, and basic pots and pans. When you arrive at your vacation spot, you'll need to stock up on some basic groceries, and there you have it - a home away from home. If you are only staying for one night, you just need a safe, clean, comfortable space to sleep and shower.

Are You Bringing the Kids?

Some hotels are perfect for a family with children. They may have a play structure, heated swimming pool that's usable even in the winter, and video games in the room. Having kid friendly hotels can make your life on vacation so much easier. Plus, a child friendly venue will attract other families so your kids will have someone to hang out with at the pool. If other families with children are there, they will understand when your sons and daughters are running around, whining, or acting like kids. If you're trying to have a romantic getaway with your partner, you'll want to find a more adult friendly motel.

Do You Travel With Your Pets?

Pet owners love their cats and dogs as much as other family members. They often travel with Fido and Fluffy so need to find hotels that accept pets. Many places do, so it would be wise to check the Internet for "pet friendly" places and then follow that up with a phone call. The management may have certain rules such as small dogs under 25 pounds or only one cat. A few phone calls will answer any questions you may have about bringing your animals. Be ready to pay an additional fee or deposit, however, but it will be well worth it to know your beloved pets can come along.

There are lots of great hotels available for every sort of traveler. Whatever your budget, you should find one in your price range. No matter what your requirements are for lodging, with a bit of research, you'll find just the right place to spend a night, a week, or even a month.
