subject: Advantages Of Different Types Of Renewable Energy [print this page]

Renewable energy is a form of energy that comes from natural resources such as wind, sun, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat. This type of energy is sustainable and derived from inexhaustible sources. That means this energy is infinite and available throughout the year. Now, let us take a look at some of the basic advantages of it -

1. Renewable energy is extremely environment friendly. While this form of energy does not produce carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gasses, this does not have adverse effect on environment in compare to fossil fuel sources of energy such as coal, oil, and gas.

2. It is cost effective as well as it does not need to be brought to sustain the electricity plant. Also, it requires less labor for operating and maintaining them.

3. Renewable energy tools like solar panels can be used for both commercial buildings and households. They are more environment friendly and energy efficient.

However, let us now discuss on some of the great advantage of the important types of alternate fuel or technology -

Wind energy:

1. Wind be generated again and again, a natural resource which when tapped and converted results in generation of electricity. Therefore, it is available without a limit and all through the year. It is one of the cleanest forms of energy and used in many developed and developing nations to produce electricity.

2. It does not have any adverse effect on the environment. It does not pollute the air or does not destroy the environment by releasing toxic gases.

3. It is cost effective as well. Installing wind turbines involve a little initial cost but later on, pay for themselves. Also, the land used to install wind turbines can be used for agricultural purposes as well. When combined with solar energy, wind energy becomes all the more cheap, reliable, steady and a great source of renewable energy across all nations.

4. Wind energy has also made out the way of income for many people. Starting from installing the wind turbines to maintaining it requires man power. Therefore, it has created a wide range of opportunities and a source of income for many local people, especially in the coastal and hilly areas.

Biomass energy:

1. One of the most appealing advantages of biomass energy is that it is available in abundant and all around the year.

2. It has less effect on the environment in compare to fossil fuels.

3. Biomass energy helps in keeping the cities and villages clean and tidy.

4. It is also a cost effective source of energy. In fact, it is relatively cheaper and reliable in compare to fossil fuels.

5. Heat that comes from biomass/biogas is 3.5 times hotter than burning wood.

6. It is also cheaper in compare to oil supplies. That is because since oil supplies are getting depleted over the passage of time, it is becoming an expensive source of fuel.

Solar energy:

1. One of the most primary advantages of solar energy is that it does not emit any greenhouse gases. Therefore, it does not pollute the environment like any other sources of energy.

2. Like wind , solar energy also creates jobs for people in the local area. It requires a huge man power for installing, monitoring, and maintaining the solar panels.

3. Unlike fossil fuel operations, solar Energy installations such as Solar Panels does not rely on constant mining raw materials. Therefore, it does destroy the forests and eco-systems.
