subject: End Of The World [print this page] Where did you go? Where did you go?
The answer to this question requires a bit of a back story.
Here is it.
Nearly five years ago, in April 2008, before being a real adult, I decided to live abroad to gain cross cultural experience, add some distance between my friends and family, and see the world to broaden my perspective to become a true international woman of mystery. Like Austin Powers or, Beyonce.
The journey has been incredible. In so many ways, the outcome has far exceeded the great expectations in my imagination.
From this moment on, I'll be writing a post everyday sharing a particular experience and the accompanying lesson. As a part of the lesson, I write the moral of the story which is the knowledge or, dare I say, wisdom, that is the make up of my subconscious mind, physical appearance and place in the world today.
What happened out there?
A better question is what didn't happen? No. I mean seriously, what didn't happen?
First, I admit that apart from the need to satisfy my hunger and thirst for experience to write my first book; the second reason I rented space in North and South East Asia and, a brief stint in the Middle East, more on the details later, came out of my gypsy nature, adventurous spirit and desire to escape the traditional work 9-5, retire in 20 years Capitalist culture.
What happened out there?
Funny thing is, after the initial struggle and culture shock of living in a different country with a language coded in symbols resembling icons or TV pictures I I found some peace, actually.
Why?
The answer is simple. I found some peace in the moment to moment actions, minute to minute words, and the day to day things.
I found some happiness in bowing to my co-teacher, reading lips to find meaning in foreign phrases, and answering a text message took on a more profound meaning as the option to communicate in plain English did not exist.
Why?
I am. I am. I am. I am alive. I have everything I need right here this exact moment. I have air in my lungs. I have food in my belly. I have a roof to cover my head. I have clothes on my body. I have shoes on my feet. I have the Internet, a MacBook and an iPhone5 to connect with the entire planet. I have friends and a family who love me.
I found answers to some of my big questions. Most importantly, I understand I have everything I need with which to succeed right now inside of me and at my finger tips.
One of the greatest ironies is, this little insight that says, "Everything is inside you," "You are the X factor," and "Breathe" is completely true.
In less than 40 days, I am turning 30. I am really excited about venturing into my thirties. I am positive the next ten years of my life will be somewhat easier. Not because life is get easier. In fact, I am sure the challenges, obstacles and failures will be more than the first thirty but, I know one thing for sure and that is: "Life does not get easier but we do get better at it."
Please like, share and or comment on this post. I am interested in hearing your thoughts, ideas and perceptions about my life perspective. However, remember the golden rule "Do onto others as you would like others to do unto you."
In the end, there can be no place to call home unless we feel at home inside ourselves.
In less than twelve hours, it is the end of the world. In less than twelve hours, a part of you will die. But remember, the one thing you can control is which part of you will not wake up from tonights sleep. Why not choose to let the half-empty, part-time life employee rest for the rest of your life in peace.
In less than twelve hours, it is the end of the world. I'm really happy about it because I have the power to control which part of me I live with for the rest of my life and so do you.
