Fight with Umpire
On May 15th in a game with Tampa Bay Rays, Lawrie was ejected from the game due to objecting to being called out on two consecutive strikes by the umpire. The 2 pitches that were questionable were shown by computerized strike zone analysis as well as replay to have not been in the strike zone. After the two pitches, Lawrie began walking the baseline to first, only to hear the umpire call a strike. After hearing the call of a strikeout, Lawrie turned around and yelled at the umpire Miller and was quickly ejected from the game. Lawrie then threw his helmet at the ground but it took a bounce and hit Miller. Manager John Farrell was ejected also after arguing with Miller the umpire. Lawrie was then suspended for 4 games by the MLB and at first appealed the suspension but ended up dropping the appeal.
Toronto Eaton Centre Shooting
After a 7-4 loss to the Red Sox on June 2nd, Lawry was at the Toronto Eaton Centre when a shooting incident took place. Lawrie was unharmed and posted on Twitter about the incident and was credited by many news media outlets with breaking the story.
Wilson Award
Lawrie was awarded the Wilson award for fielding for his defensive play at 3rd base on November 4th.
New Uniforms
