subject: Dental Implants - The Permanent Solution [print this page]

Patients often have concerns about the cost of dental implants. While they understand this is a permanent solution, they realize that it costs more than dentures, crowns, and bridges. Setting aside the cost of the work, there are so many benefits to fixing gaps in your teeth permanently instead of just settling for a temporary solution.

Better Than Dentures

Dentures often require the replacement of several teeth all at the same time. It is a lot of work to care for dentures, no matter what type you choose. They will need to be cleaned separately from the rest of your teeth, and you will need to purchase specific products that will work to disinfect the dentures. On top of all of that, there may still be some foods that you cannot enjoy for fear of causing damage.

If you just have one area that is causing a problem, dental implants are the best solution. You can be sure that what you have inserted will last you the rest of your life. They are cleaned right along with the other teeth in your mouth, and there is no need to alter your routine or add different mouth cleaning products to maintain a healthy smile. You can eat what you want without worry.

Better Than Crowns

Everyone knows that crowns tend to have a short life. While they solve the problem right away, they can easily be damaged or broken. In some cases, the neighboring teeth are affected in a negative way. The cost is more affordable, but in the long term, this is not going to provide a permanent solution.

Dental implants do not require that any portion of the mouth be adjusted or changed in a negative way. One can fit in between a person's teeth without a problem and they tend to blend right in so that no one can tell the difference. It takes more time than a crown and it costs more than a crown, but the results are so much more desirable.

Better Than Bridges

A bridge requires two health crowns on either side of a gap to ensure a proper attachment. They do not require surgery and can be done in the dentist's office. The goal is to be able to match up to the rest of the teeth to make sure that there is no attention drawn to the area that was repaired. If the gums around the area are not cleaned properly, there could be extensive problems.

Dental implants do not require that the surrounding teeth change. They are placed individually and can stand alone, without any other assistance. While there are plenty of other alternatives to fixing a gap in your smile, consider a permanent solution that you can count on.
