4 lbs of clams

Chopped onion 2 cups

Flour 1 tablespoon

White wine 1 cup

Potatoes 2 pound

Bay leaf 1

Thyme 2 springs

Old Bay seasoning 1 teaspoon

Whipping cream 1 cup

Water 1 to 2 cups

Black pepper teaspoon

Method of preparation

At first wash the clams properly so that dirt gets removed. Put it in a bowl and mix cold water. Put it in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes.

Steam it and put it in a pot. Now, fill half inch of pot with water and put it to boil after covering. Let it steam till the time all are opened up, it takes between 5 to 10 minutes. If it foams up, do not let it overflow the pot. With the help of a spoon, remove clams to bowl. Remove shells and discard it.

Mix salt pork and vegetable oil or butter at the bottom of large pot.

Now, put chopped onion in a pan and cook it. Stir it from time to time for 5 minutes. Sprinkle flour throughout and wisely coat everything with flour. Its time to add white wine to the mix.

Now, mix potatoes, 2 to 3 cups of steaming liquid and single cup of water. Make sure that liquid covers the potatoes and also add bay leaf, thyme, black pepper and old bay. After covering the pot, cook for almost 10 minutes. More 5 minutes of cooking but before that add corn into the mix.

In the meanwhile, steam a cup of cream and mix it in the soup when potatoes are tender.
