It is simply known as addition. Adding two or more numbers is called sum.
More numbers can be added at a time. Any number of digits can be added.
DIFFERENCE:
Difference is nothing but subtraction. Find the difference between given two numbers is called subtraction.
Difference can be performed between two numbers alone at a time.
BOTH SUM AND DIFFERENCE:
Both sum and difference can be performed in same problem
When we need to solve for the sum and difference in the same problem , we follow a certain sequence, where we use brackets to simplify the problem.
Solving Sum and Difference: Sum
EXAMPLE 1:
Find the sum of 7 + 4
Solution:
7 + 4 = 11
EXAMPLE 2:
Find the sum of 48 + 26
Solution:
48
26 (+)
74
Here first we have to add the ones digit 8 + 6 = 14
Place 4 in the ones digit and take the 1 as remainder.
Add the tens digit with the remainder 1 also
So we get 1+4+2=7
So our final answer becomes 74
EXAMPLE 3:
Find the sum of 57 + 32 + 48 + 64
We can add any digit of numbers
Solution:
First add the ones digit of all the numbers. We get 21 places 1 and carry the remainder 2
Add 10s digits with carry 2
We get 20.
57
32
48
64(+)
201
So our answer is 201
Solving Sum and Difference: Difference
The main difference between sum and difference is in performing addition we can add more numbers. But in doing subtraction we cannot subtract more than two numbers at a time.
EXAMPLE 1:
Find the difference of 6-2
Solution:
6 2 = 4
EXAMPLE 2:
Find the difference of 79 and 32
Solution:
79
32 (-)
47
Solving Sum and Difference:
Here we perform both the sum and difference operation
Example 1:
Find the sum and difference of 100 and 45
Solution:
Sum of 100 and 45 is 100 + 45 = 145
Difference of 100 and 45 is
100 45 = 55
Sum:
The sum of two numbers is what we get and when we add the two numbers. There are a number of ways to writing sums, with the most common being:
Addition (2 + 4 + 6 = 12)
Difference:
In mathematics, the difference between the two numbers is how much bigger one is than the other. Difference is the result of subtraction.
