subject: Sustainable Management & Corporate Social Responsibility Programs Lead Way To Sustainable Future [print this page]

Recession seems to be banging on the doors of many businesses from small companies to global corporations, but studies have suggested that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Green Business could be areas that arent crippled by the lagging economy.

When asked about the future of business, Anaheim University Dean of the Akio Morita School of Business, Dr. Andrew Honeycutt, stated, The business world has changed dramatically since I earned my Doctor of Business Administration in a traditional on-campus setting at Harvard Business School. The Internet has made the marketplace much more competitive. Business is being done online and corporations face competitors from all over the world. Corporate stability is being redefined and will include new factors such as the diversity of a corporation's clientele, its ability to deal with intercultural and international legal issues, and the responsibility the corporation takes for the impact it has on the environment. Many corporations are simply taking a loan on the environment and society will demand repayment with penalties for prior environmental violations.

There is no doubt that corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become a core area of business that companies can no longer ignore. Academic programs in Sustainability or Sustainable Management address CSR and teach how to do business in an environmentally and socially responsible way. One such Sustainable Masters degree program is the Online MBA in Sustainable Management (Online Green MBA) offered through the Anaheim University Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute. According to Dr. Honeycutt, In the Anaheim University Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute, being green is not about enhancing corporate public image. It is about preparing stable businesses of the 21st century to co-exist with the environment while at the same time thriving.

Through such 6-week intensive online courses as Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics, Triple Bottom Line Accountability, and Green Marketing, Anaheims students learn about the 3 Ps (People, Planet and Profit) while earning a Certificate, Diploma or MBA in Sustainable Management (Online Green MBA).

When asked about the Green MBA program, Donald Nordeng, Anaheim University Graduate and President of the pioneering organic certification company Ecocerts Japanese subsidiary, said, Triple Bottom Line Accountability is one of the subjects I am excited about getting to grips with. This really fits with the business and whole corporate raison detre, of how to increase our profit whilst at the same time adding value to the environment and standards of living within the communities we serve. The fact that Anaheim University is an online University also had added incentive for me to study. Without the bricks and mortar, needed for travel, and online resources we are already cutting down on thousands of tons of carbon.
