subject: Outsourced Iphone Development Teams View On The Iphone 5 Bigger Screen [print this page]

Whenever iPhone is launched there is always something new and interesting it offers each time. This time around also it is no different considering iPhone has come up with a bigger screen. However, while users may be happy with a bigger screen, Im curious on what is the take of the outsource iPhone developers. Are they happy or are they not so happy? This curiosity led me to quiz some of the outsourced iPhone developers and find out what did they think about it. It was an interesting exercise to know what outsourced iPhone development professionals though about it. While they do agree they need to overcome the challenge of designing apps that would fit the complete screen, however, many of them were of the view it is not that simple an answer and there are many other aspects they would need to look into.

At present, till the time outsourced iPhone development professionals do not create new apps or update the latest ones, the existing apps will work in the new iPhone but with the difference that it will show two black bars on each side. However, this will not be the case forever considering users will want to instantly get the updated apps that would definitely highlight the new screen. When I quizzed most outsourced iPhone development professionals, they did agree the matter is not as simple as it sounds because definitely not all apps are of the same kind. Most of them believed that the effort they need to put on is dependent on the kind of application, as every application comes with its own set of changes. For instance, there are many applications that may be size constrained and therefore would need to be handled in a different manner.

After getting some of the outsourced iPhone development professionals viewpoints, I had to draw my conclusion because it was definitely not easy summarizing their viewpoints, which as at times straightforward and sometimes confusing. So here is what

I was able to gather after speaking to the various iPhone development professionals:

1. Yes, the existing apps will function fine on the new iPhone except two bars will appear on each side.

2. It is possible to enhance the clarity so that users are able to use the applications perfectly

3. Outsourced iPhone development professionals are not stressing on the pixels initially because what is more important is getting to make the apps look really good in the new screen

4. The apps that can be modified without much effort to fit in with the requirements of the new iPhone are being worked

upon. But the apps requiring complete re-designing will obviously not be launched into the market sometime soon

5. There are some apps that possess the table view element and these ones may need to be stretched in the middle thereby enabling the table to spread out. However, outsourced iPhone developers would need to work upon them a bit before they fit with the bigger screen of iPhone. Also, outsourced iPhone development professionals will have to work on apps that depend on custom graphics and they would need to be completely revamped.
