subject: The History Of Molecular Biology [print this page] Nowadays with the development of technology and science ,the molecular biology has developed a lot .Lets just have a look at the history of it .First lett see some big improvements of it ,Gregor Mendel did the world famous experiment(the pea hybrid test) which made a great hit in the biology field and became a main milestone of the development of the molecular biology .Than the discipline of heredity which made by Mendel helped people had a better sense recognition of shape inheritance .However the gene theory of Morgan made a further step to make a better combination of shape and gene ,and became the milepost of the molecular genetics .In 1868 ,Miescher separated caryon from pyocyte and he found nucleic acid which is picked up from the caryon in1872 .In 1910 ,The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Albrecht Klssel in recognition of the contributions to our knowledge of cell chemistry made through his work on proteins ,including the nucleic substances .The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine ,1958 was awarded to George Wells Beadle and Edward Lawrie Tatum for their discovery that genes act by regulating definite chemical events .The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine ,1958 was awarded to Joshua Lederberg for his discoveries concerning genetic recombination and the organization of the genetic material of bacteria .The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine ,1959 was awarded to Severo Ochoa and Arthur Kornberg for their discovery of the mechanisms in the biological synthesis of ribonucleic acid and deoxyribonucleic acid .The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine ,1962 was awarded to Francis Crick and other two men for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material .The found of Double Helix is another huge break through of the history of molecular biology .In 1962 ,Francois Jacob ,Andre Lwoff and Jacques Monod got The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discoveries concerning genetic control of enzyme and virus synthesis .Then Robert W.Holley ,Har Gobind Khorana and Marshall W.Nirenberg also got The Nobel Prize for their interpretation of the genetic code and its function in protein synthesis .Although these are the winner of the Nobel Prize ,it represents the history of molecular biology .From none to the large amount of information today ,we can see how quick it has developed .But we still have many mysteries to solve ,lots of knowledge to learn ,so we still have a long way to go .And I am sure we have a bright day in the near future .
