subject: My Ex Girlfriend Is Dating A New Guy - Should You Try To Break Them Up? [print this page]

It's probably going to be one of the first bright ideas that you get if you hear that your ex girlfriend is dating a new guy. The idea that you can somehow find a way to break them up so that she will be single and available again might seem like the obvious choice, but is it really what you should try to do?

Nope.

If you try to break up your ex girlfriend and the new guy that she has been seeing, you have no guarantees that she is going to want to come back to you. While that might be the way that you see it unfolding in your mind, in real life, it probably won't go down like that.

This is what is more likely to happen if you try to break them up...

Your ex girlfriend will end up hating you.

She'll see you as the reason why things didn't work out with that guy she was seeing and that is going to make you someone she might even consider an enemy. At the very least, she is definitely going to end up feeling angry and resentful towards you if she knows that you were the cause of her and this new guy breaking up.

You can't do that.

That kind of thing doesn't even work in high school, much less in adult relationships.

What is a better way to deal with your ex girlfriend dating some other guy?

Being cool about it. You don't have to like it. You don't have to try to be this new guy's best friend. But, you do have to be cool about it. That is, if you want to have a shot at being able to win her back.

There is a way to break them up without actually trying to break them up.

What is that way?

It's making her see that you are the better man. Really, more like the more attractive man. The heart follows what it is attracted to. You want her to become more attracted to you than she is to the new guy. That way, her heart will tell her that getting back with you is the right thing to do.

It won't happen if you are trying to ruin her new relationship. All that is going to do is make you look like some immature creep who can't move on and who can't act like an adult. Not exactly the way that you want to go if you want to make your ex girlfriend feel attracted to you.
