The Streets

Look up Trastevere on the web, and almost any guide will tell you that you shouldnt worry about getting lost in fact, its highly recommended! Step away from the doors of your hotel and youll find yourself wandering down charming narrow streets that wind around the district, filled with hidden treasures of architecture, art and more.

In your exploration of the streets outside the Worldhotel Ripa Roma, chances are that you may end up somewhere around the Trastevere train station. Try to check out the Viale di Trastevere and make your way towards Ponte Garibaldi. Here, youll find stands selling fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, clothing, accessories (such as knock-off designer purses and wallets) and many other things.

Oudoor Hangouts

Still off Viale di Trastevere is the Piazza Santa Maria, a great place to hang out and watch people going by, as well as enjoy buskers offering free entertainment. Sitting by the fountain or having a drink or two at the restaurants around the area is a wonderful way to while away an afternoon.

If youre there on a Sunday morning, Viale de Trastevere will also lead you to a huge flea market called Porta Portese. Youll probably need to exercise a lot of self-control or youll find yourself artwork, bags and shoes back to your hotel.

If you still have some energy, try to find Via de San Francesco di Ripa just off it is a little street where you will find Big Mama, Romes original jazz and blues house that has been featuring great music for more than 25 years.

The Worldhotel Ripa Roma is practically opposite the Ministry of Education a hint that its a great place to indulge your scholarly side. Trastevere plays host to many academic institutions including The American University of Rome and John Cabot University, the American Academy in Rome, the Rome campus of the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, as well as the Canadian University of Waterloo School of Architecture and the American Pratt Institute School of Architecture. It also has a wealth of libraries and bookshops, including Bibli and the Libreria del Cinema, Libreria Griot, the Biblioteca Archivia and more.
