The electronic industry today is dependent upon transformers to a large extent. Voltage transformers are a device better to say power converter that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors. As the power fluctuation is a common problem today so these devices came into existence. It collects the high voltage power and then distributes it to the machines that require different voltage.

Moving towards the history of transformers, it was date back to 1831. In this year the principle behind the operation of transformer named electromagnetic induction, was discovered by Michael Faraday and Joseph Henry. But as Faraday published the result of experiments therefore credited as the father of voltage transformers. After its invention there arises a need of Voltage Stabilizer

that was particularly design to overcome the problem of electricity fluctuation and controls high and low voltage.

The first kind of transformer that was used named induction coil was evolved to get higher voltage from batteries. We all know that a battery produces direct current (DC) instead of alternate current (AC) therefore, induction coil depends upon vibrating electrical contacts. The transformer is generally works on two principles and these are:

* An electric current can produce magnetic field known as electromagnetism

* Change of magnetic field within a coil of wire induces a voltage across the end of that coil. The phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction.

There are many types of voltage transformers depending upon the use of them in industries and various appliances. These are designed specifically for different applications.

Autotransformer

These are basically used to step or down between the voltage. In this type of transformer a single winding acts as a primary and secondary. This winding includes at least three tapes that are used to create electrical connections.

The autotransformer can be lighter, smaller and cheaper as compare to a standard dual-winding transformer but it does provide electrical cocooning.

Leakage Transformer

It is basically used for arc welding and high voltage discharge lamps. Acting as a dual transformer it is a voltage transformer as well as magnetic ballast.It is also used in doorbell installation.

Audio Transformer

These are particularly designed to be use exactly in audio circuits and used to provide impedance mismatching between high and low impedance circuits.

Resonant Transformer

These transformers are used to generate very high voltages that are required by the machines like generators. It is also used to couple between the stages of receivers.

Output Transformer

It is also used for many industrial purposes. The design of output transformers became a critical requirement for achieving low distortion, and carefully designed, expensive components were produced with minimal inherent distortion and phase shift.

Instruments Transformers

These are used to measure voltage in electric power system. Also used in power system protection and control.

Along with the transformers there is a high demand of Servo Voltage Stabilizer in the industries and household appliances.
