subject: How To Find Amazing Blogger Images [print this page]

Sometimes when you're blogging, the hardest thing to do is find an image that really polishes off a post. What's worse is that when you just start out, it doesn't feel right to spend $10 on a stock image when you aren't making any more in the first place!

There are two resources I like a lot for finding high quality blogger images for free. Those are Flickr.com and SXC.hu.

With Flickr, start out by doing a normal search. Then, when the search results appear, click on the Advanced Search tab. Once you're in the Advanced Search screen, scroll down until you see the Creative Commons logo and tick all three options.

What Creative Commons does is provide an alternative to copyrights. When an author grants a creative commons license to their work, you may have the option of altering it, using it, mashing it and generally distributing it. (I say 'may' because even Creative Commons has some restrictions in many cases.)

Find an image you like, right click and press 'save as' and you're all set. Make sure you link to the author to give proper attribution though!

SXC.hu, or Stock Exchange, is a bit different. On this site, all the images are royalty free meaning you can search for them and use them as you see fit. There are lots of high, high quality photos and illustrations there for you to choose from.

Just make sure when you choose blogger images that you give proper attribution in your blog post or immediately under the image. It's imperative to stay out of trouble!
