subject: Some Useful Tools For Garden Designing [print this page]

This article provides a list of tools needed in gardening.

Many people dream of having a beautiful garden in front of their house. But creating that garden is not as easy as it seems. It requires labor, patience, creativity, dedication, and, most importantly, the right kind of tools. The right tools can make the difference and make your job a lot easier.

Here are some tools that will help you in garden designing:

Shovels- Garden shovels have round/square pointed blades. They are needed for doing the most basic jobs, like, digging holes, moving soil and planting trees, shrubs or other kinds of plants. When buying a garden shovel, you should look for: a comfortable handle, a solid blade and a flat edge at the top of the blade to provide a better leverage for your feet. The following types of shovel are available in market. You can choose from them:

Short handle round point shovel,

Long handle round point shovel,

Short handle square point spade,

Long handle square point spade,

Sawtooth shovel,

Transplanting spade.

Pruners- A pruner is one of the most invaluable tools needed for garden designing. They are used to trim and shape plants in a neat manner without causing any bad rip or disproportionate tears. When buying pruners look for: comfort of grip, non-stick blades and blades that can be sharpened, and cutting diameter. Basically, pruners are of 2 types:

Bypass, and

Anvil.

Garden forks- Garden forks are used to break up the soil of the garden. A right kind of garden fork can be used as a spade as well.

Carts and wheelbarrows- Carrying things (like soil, plants, garden accessories, etc.) around the garden with your hands can be a laborious task. The labor can be decreased by using a cart or wheelbarrow instead. The size of the cart/wheelbarrow should depend on the size of your garden and the amounts of things to be carried. Though a bigger size is always better, dont buy a cart so large which you will find difficult to move. Some vital things to look for while buying a wheelbarrow are:

Air filled tire

Handles that extend all the way to the tire, and

A deep tray

If your budget is high, buy a wheelbarrow that has a reinforced carriage.

If you are looking forward to designing your garden, you need to gather all the essential tools first. You can buy them from a local store or contact a garden design company who will provide all the needed tools along with efficient professionals trained to bring that impeccable look to your garden.
