subject: Silvana De Cianni Comes Up With A New Business Vision [print this page]

China houses a seventh of the worlds population, with in excess of one billion men women and children calling the country home. In recent years China has become a world leader in industry. On the coast of China from the North all the way to the South there are factories that make everything from comic books to technologically advanced computer products. The various industries that make up China are very interesting, especially when you look closely at different sectors.

Importers benefit greatly from many aspects of industry in China as labour is inexpensive. This makes it possible for companies like Apple and Microsoft to offer their computer products at lower prices than they would have been able to if they had their goods made in the United States. From an outsiders perspective, that is one of the best parts of China. However, from a residents perspective, the benefits come from the influx of jobs that outside business leads to.

Though there are positives to industry in China, a lot of it depends on who you talk to and the degree of positivity. A lot of people in the country may say it is good but it could be better if certain things changed, but this all boils down to personal opinion.

The negative things always seem to be the easiest to talk about. This is because the bad pieces are more heavily publicized. You maybe have read about riots in Chinese factories, or suicides, or pennies on the dollar for an hours work. These all fall on the dark side of the spectrum that is cheap labour. As working conditions within China vary so much, an outside buyer sometimes will never know the quality of the people making his goods. He or she doesnt have much of an option to make any changes either as each worker is at the mercy of their own personal managers rather than the buyer.

It is obvious that in all things there will be good, and there will be bad. It is important to weigh up the good and the bad and see if the good outweighs the bad enough to justify it. Although something doesnt go into your when you decide to do your business in China, people will surely get benefits if the business has been executed properly.
