Shirdi, famous for its holy shrine of Shirdi Sai Baba, is a town in the state of Maharashtra. Shirdi is located approximately 296 km from Mumbai. It is known as the Land of Sai. The closest and highly connected city is Ahmednagar city which is at a distance of 85.2 km from Shirdi. Shirdi witnesses a huge rush of devotees throughout the year.

Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, is the seventh largest metropolitan city in India. Nested near the Western Ghats, Pune is home to many prestigious educational and research institutions, and top class technology companies. This city known as the Oxford of the East is ranked as a global city. Pune offers a wide range of choices for tourists.

Pune is located at a distance of 185 km from Shirdi. Pune is well-connected to Shirdi by rail and road.

From Shirdi to Pune, it takes around 5 hours by road. Super Volvo, regular A/C, non A/C, deluxe and sleeper buses operate between Shirdi and Pune. For a non-AC sleeper it will cost around Rs. 200. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) as well as many private operators run buses from Shirdi to Pune daily on a regular and frequent basis. Alternatively, one can hire a Taxi from Shirdi and for an economy type car it will cost around Rs. 3778 (for a round trip). Sangamner, Manchar, and Chakan in the Pune Nashik National Highway (NH 50) are some of the places covered while travelling from Shirdi to Pune by road. Petrol pumps, restaurants, small hotels and ATMs are available on the route from Shirdi to Pune.

Shirdi has a new railway station called "Sainagar Shirdi", which became operational in March 2009. Sainagar Shirdi Mumbai CST Fast Passenger (No 51034) train departs Sainagar Shirdi (SNSI) railway station daily at 16:40 and reaches Pune Junction (PUNE) at 22:55. Kopargaon railway station (KPG) is only 16 kms from Shirdi. Taxis and jeeps are easily available from Shirdi to Kopargaon railway station, and the travel time is about half an hour. Patna Pune SF Express (No 12150), Azad Hind SF Express (No 12130), Jhelum Express (No 11078), Goa Express (No 12780), Nizamabad Pune Passenger (No 51422) and Goa Express Slip (No 17306) are the daily trains from Kopargaon railway station to Pune. It takes around 6 hours to reach Pune. Pune Junction railway station is situated in the city centre and is easily accessible from any part of the city. Railway station has well maintained waiting and retiring rooms, tourist information centres, and restaurants offering both vegetarian and non vegetarian cuisines.

Shirdi airport is under construction. By 2018, air travel will be possible from Shirdi to other major cities, including the city of Pune.
