subject: Nokia N97 : Will It Replace My Ipod Nano? [print this page] I'm very much into convergence, I like the concept of having just one device for listening to music, watching videos, surfing the web, reading books & documents etc. All of which is possible via Nokia N97. The music quality is awesome, in some cases even better than the iPod nano and it's even possible to store all my music collection in the N97, which is not possible in iPod nano as it has less memory than Nokia N97 which has 32GB of memory and I can add further 32GB to it, 64Gb is more than enough I"ll ever need. Even if I put all my music in their, I still would have gigs of space left. With the mammoth 3.5 inch screen, watching movies and videos is a real treat. Not possible in iPod nano". really, I don"t think I"ll enjoy watching movies in iPod nano"s small screen after watching movies in the 3.5 inch screen of Nokia N97
I like taking photos and videos every time I'm out with my friends and the 5-megapixel camera with carl zeiss optics & 30fps VGA recording is more that enough to satisfy my needs. I can also share my videos online with just a touch. It also allows me to be online 24x7. iPod nano doesn"t have 5-megapixel camera nor carl zeiss optics.
iPod nano has Genius - This is a very good and useful feature. It is essentially a playlist maker. It makes a playlist according to the song you choose. I absolutely have making playlist, cause I like all the songs and end up adding everything to the playlist. This is a really time saving feature. Another feature I love is genius mixer. It makes 12 customised playlists for me when I sync my nano to iTunes. One thing really cool about this feature is - I have 1000s of songs in my nano and I don't listen to all of them everyday, so there are some songs which I've not listened to in ages. This feature helps me in rediscovering those songs. I had forgotten how good they were.
So will I miss Genius in Nokia N97? No""There is an App for that" (pun intended) Playlist DJ is an application which is more genius than the genius feature of iPod nano. It does the same thing "" Make playlist and it works better.
2. Some of the features I really admire on Nokia N97 are -
1. The huge memory. 32 GB is simply awesome. I can put all my videos, pictures, music, documents and be still left with lots of space. I can also download huge torrent files without any problem.
2. The 3.5 inch screen, I love watching movies but can't watch them on PC because of the frequent powercuts. Now I put movies in N97 and watching movies in 360x640 3.5 inch screen is a real treat.
3. The camera. I love photography and the 5 megapixel carl zeiss camera is awesome.
3. Widgets are fun and east way to be in touch with what's going on. The 97's homescreen is the most innovative idea. It keeps me updated on facebook, weather, news, RSS feeds etc. Browsing on the N97 is fun because of the huge screen and flash support, the browser is fast and I was able to watch YouTube videos without a problem. Social networking and multitasking is cool with the facebook widget, snaptu or gravity satisfying my twittering needs and the one touch easiness of uploading photos and videos just blew me away.
4. With the 3.5 inch screen, full qwerty screen and the huge memory the quick office now makes sense. It's like having a PC in your pocket. I have all my projects and assignments in here and I no longer have to tug along the laptop to college.
so, ya" I think I don"t need to carry around my iPod nano as long as I"ve got Nokia N97.
