Hyderabad, situated in Deccan Plateau, has a history of over 500 years. Hyderabad, located on the banks of Musi River, is known as City of Pearls. Charminar is the star attraction in the city.

The distance from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam is around 650 km. According to legends, Visakhapatnam was named after the God Vaishaka. Visakhapatnam has the biggest ship-building yard in India and is known as Jewel of the East Coast.

Popularly known as Vizag, Visakhapatnam has three enchanting hills in Sri Venkateswara Konda, Ross Hill and Dargakonda. The place is, however, known for its beaches. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, VUDA Park, Kailasgiri Park, Light House, Dolphins Nose, War Memorial, Matsyadarshini Aquarium, Kali Temple, Simhachalam Temple, Venkateswara Temple, Church of the Virgin Mary and Baba Ishaq Madina Dargah are among the major tourist attractions in Visakhapatnam.

Both Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam have airports. Airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Kingfisher Red, JetLite, Jet Airways and SpiceJet have regular flights from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. The flight takes one hour to reach the destination.

Half a dozen daily trains are running between the two cities. Among the daily direct trains are Hyderabad-Howrah East Coast Express No.18646, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Godavari Express No.12728, Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Konark Express No.11019, Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express No.12704, Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Visakha Express No.17016 and Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Garib Rath Express No.12740.

Besides, some trains are running on certain days of the week. Among them are (with the days of operation in brackets) Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Duronto Express No.22204 (Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays), Sai Nagar Shirdi-Visakhapatnam Express No.17205 (Thursdays, Sundays) Lokmanya Tilak-Visakhapatnam Express No.12760 (Tuesdays, Sundays), Secunderabad-Shalimar Express No.22850 (Sundays) and Secunderabad-Guwahati Express No.12573 (Sundays). The trains take 12 hours to 14 hours to travel from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad.

Journey by road is also popular. Ordinary and private buses are available in this route. The buses charge a rate ranging from Rs.400 to Rs.900 depending on the type of vehicle. Bus journey takes nearly 11 hours. On the other hand taxis charge a rate ranging from Rs.15 to Rs.30 per kilometre. Taxi takes around nine hours to ten hours to travel from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam.

The road route passes through (with distance in kilometres from Hyderabad) Chautuppal (57 km), Suraypet (139 km), Jaggaiahpet (198 km), Krishna (272 km), West Godavari (332 km), Tadepalligudam (385 km), Tanudu (407 km), Rajamundry (469 km), Tuni (566 km), Anakapalle (638 km) and Visakhapatnam (660 km).
