subject: Offshore Healthcare Software Companies Track The Shift In Changing Technologies [print this page]

The best way to find out what's going on in a particular industry is to find out from the people who device or develop that particular product or technology. Of course there are today numerous tools such as Internet that plays a vital role in giving you information at the click of a button, but some times it helps to look at things from the perspective of where actually the technology is being developed. Since my forte is offshore healthcare software, hence, I'm going to concentrate on the evolving trends that have taken place in offshore healthcare solutions. It wouldn't be incorrect to say that healthcare industry did not latch onto the software technology as much as the other industries did. They took some time considering healthcare is quite a complicated field but once they did understand the importance of offshore healthcare software in healthcare industry, a complete change took over.

Today, we find a number of offshore healthcare software companies that are extensively involved in creating different kinds of healthcare software solutions such as Electronic Health Records. Initially, a couple of years back when offshore healthcare software companies started developing healthcare software, they would get requirements to develop electronic medical records or also known as EMR. I do remember that a couple of years back we would need to ask medical practitioners that if they even knew the difference between EMR and EHR. Since the market at that time was quite fragmented and the technologies were not standardized most would simply opt for EMR because they somehow felt they would be more comfortable using EMR as offshore healthcare software.

However, over the years there has emerged a clear distinction between the use of EMR and EHR as offshore healthcare software and one of the places this clear distinction is clearly evident is where the technology is being developed. In the course of my experience as a healthcare software consultant, I have not only interacted with medical practitioners but also with offshore healthcare software companies that design and develop this type of software. Most seem to be of the opinion that offshore healthcare software has definitely evolved a lot over the past couple of years and there seems to be a clear demarcation in terms of understanding the roles and functionality of the different software. Therefore, today it is not uncommon to find that more medical practitioners are complete aware of the advantages that EHR or Electronic Health Records would have over EMR or Electronic Medical Records.

I have realized that is quite easy to track the change in trend through the kind of software that offshore healthcare software companies are developing. After my interaction with some of them, I have realized that today there is a growing demand for EHR software and most offshore healthcare software companies are exactly providing what the client needs. Besides, interacting with various offshore healthcare software companies, I have also realized that when one searches on various search engines, invariably EHR as the preferred choice of offshore healthcare is searched more often than other types of healthcare software.
