subject: The Second Coming And The Last Four Signs [print this page] A recent poll revealed that one out of seven people believe that the end of the world is near. With the world population at seven billion people, then at least a billion people believe we are living in the last days. That's quite a large number, even if those numbers rise and fall with different countries.
So the numbers tell us that the vast majority has made a decision not to board the ark, which is logical. Many look back and see a trend of end time scenarios and mindsets throughout the years. They remember key phrases such as 'if the creek don't rise' and 'God willing'. They have also weathered Y2K, along with many other doomsday calendar events--all of which failed in their predictions.
Still, the question remains. Is the world coming to an end? The scientific community says no, at least not in our generation. We do live in a universe that will one day end in heat death, but that day is billions if not trillions of years away. That's a problem for somebody else. Physically, as we look at our planet and the universe in which it lives, there is nothing to suggest that things are going to fall apart any time soon.
However, if you take into account the God equation, those scientific facts become insignificant. The God equation states several key facts. First is that while nature can easily produce designs, it cannot produce perfect designs. One would not find a two carat, marquis cut diamond stone and convince the world that it is a naturally formed diamond. Our universe is a moving masterpiece of perfection and to suggest that it created itself is border line close to insanity. Second, any design which is created must be sustained. The universe is, as we noted, a moving masterpiece. To think that it sustains itself is tantamount to saying that a garden can take care of itself. But we know that it cannot. Left to itself a garden will fill with weeds. Lastly, all designs are built for a purpose. Whether for decoration or use, everything created has a purpose. The universe has a purpose and that purpose is to display the power, authority, and most of all the presence of a Creator.
Within the God equation is a man named Jesus. While there are countless myths and fabrications about His life, the fact that He left behind an empty tomb is a mystery still unsolved despite the thousands of years which have passed. The empty tomb stands as a memorial to the fact that He is either the greatest conman on earth or... just perhaps... the Person who He said He was: the God which created our universe.
Let's move Nostradamus and his acid tripping predictions to the side for a moment. Jesus was a prophet too. Unlike N'damus, Jesus didn't say things like "In a great city a monk and an artesian are lodged near the gate and the walls. Speaking vainly and secretly against Modena; betraying for acting under the guise of marriage." (The Final Prophecies of Nostradamus, by Erika Cheetham, Perigee books) Instead He said things like: "Do you not see all these things? [He is speaking about the Jewish temple] Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (Matthew 24:2) That prophecy was fulfilled when the Romans, under Titus, invaded Jerusalem and burned the temple. Today nobody is completely sure where the temple once stood. He also said, "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached to all nations, and then the end shall come." (Matthew 24:14) Today eighty percent of the world's population has access to the Bible in a form they can read and understand. In Matthew 11:21 through 24 Jesus pronounced judgments on Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum. All three cities were prophecied to lose their privileges and their prestige as cities. In the wars Israel faced with Rome from 71 onward, these cities were ravaged and they lie in ruins today. He said that "Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles [those who are not of the lineage of Abraham] until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." (Luke 21:24) This was fulfilled in 1968. These are but a few of the prophecies Jesus gave, and not only are they easy to understand; but they have all come to pass. Even when Jesus was on the cross, He pointed His lost disciples to Psalm 22 (the Psalms were arranged by titles, not verses, at the time of Christ) to prove that everything taking place was supposed to happen.
Now, out of sheer logic I can believe in the God equation because of Jesus. Historically there are a handful of details that the vast majority of historians can agree on. They agree that Jesus was a real person. They agree that He was a teacher and had a band of disciples. They agree that He was put on trial and sentenced to crucifixion by Pilate. They agree that He died on the cross. They agree that three days later there was an empty tomb. And lastly, they believe that His disciples believed that He rose again. They believe this because most of His disciples were willing to die horrific deaths for their faith. People do not die for a lie. Something about this story has to be true.
Jesus shared another prophecy that is currently taking place in our generation. He gave four distinct signs that would serve as 'contractions' which ultimately would birth the Second Coming. These are given in Luke 21:25-28. Unlike their counterparts in Matthew and Mark, the account in Luke is pre-rapture. These signs would indicate to true believers that the time of His coming was at hand.

From a scientific viewpoint, our universe might be in good shape. But from a spiritual perspective, it is being sustained by a loving God and He is currently wrapping everything up. Even though the forecast is sunny, all God has to do is say a word and things will change, rapidly. Don't be fooled by those who cry 'peace and safety'. The only peace and safety is in the arms of God, and I hope and pray that The Last Four Signs will open your heart and mind to the salvation God has for you. If you are not on the ark, I would highly suggest you start getting your boarding passes. It will only get worse from here.
